The Xiaomi Redmi Airdots 2 is one of the cheapest earbuds you can buy right now. Xiaomi recently released the Airdots 3 and surprisingly it comes in around $38 to $40 across various online shopping platforms. On AliExpress I picked the Airdots 2 for $13 and there are other vendors that sell it for around $10 but you need to beware of fake Redmi Airdots 2 that are also being sold on AliExpress. This Xiaomi Redmi Airdots 2 review is going to cover everything you need to know regarding the budget earbud by Xiaomi.
The sound quality Is a bit okay and one of the major things I like about this Earbud is the comfortability it is even better than the Tecno Hipods H2 that costs a little bit more. The Redmi Airdots 2 were released in June 2020 almost a year now but is it worth buying in 2020? The design across three-generation did not change just the same carry case and buds design that looks generic if you don’t hold it in your hand. check out the best earbuds for android phones here
The battery life is another important aspect that makes me love the Airdots 2 they feature some touch controls that work really well but with limitations. I will break down this review into various categories to help you understand the review easily. Without taking any time let’s talk about the most important aspect of any earbud which is sound quality. You can check out the Redmi 9t review here.
Before publishing this review, I have used Redmi AirDots 2 for over a month. This review was not sponsored and I used my own money to purchase the Airdots 2. To support us at dailytechbox you should use the links we have to buy the redmi airdots 2 and other products.

Xiaomi Redmi AirDots 2 Review In 2021 Should You Buy Them?
When it comes to sound you can hear vocals clearly without too much noise it separates the instrumentals and voice in a very good way. The bass is present but it is not as punchy and to be fair it is okay for an earbud below $15. Treble and highs here are quite okay and balanced it is not overdone or too much and for casual listeners, they will find it okay. If you want mids that are warm then this will be okay for you.
There is no harshness when it comes to sound but with some genres like afrobeat’s, there are times when the instrumentals get noisy if you max out the volume. I mostly keep the earbuds at 70 percent volume the sound is much more balanced that way.
When it comes to watching videos on YouTube the earbuds give you the sounds without any latency same as listening to audiobooks and podcasts.
Overall the earbuds have a dynamic sound driver that does well when it comes to sound reproduction for casual listeners it will serve well but for people that want more on a piece of truly wireless earbuds then I will advise you to look elsewhere.
Call Quality Xiaomi Redmi Airdots 2 Review
When it comes to call quality each earbud has a microphone that picks up the noise while it’s not the best it gets the job done. Even while you are in a noisy place the mics still pick up your voice and you get to hear what people are saying clearly you can use them for zoom calls and any other conference on social media.
Design and Comfort
The design is the same as the OG Redmi airdots and if you don’t hold them in your hands you will think it is a Generic Earbud. There is no other color variant apart from black and it charges via a Micro USB port which can be a deal-breaker. My devices charge via USB C and charging the carry case sometimes can be a problem. Talking about the case it is small and easy to carry about which is something I appreciate. It comes with a matte finish and it’s not prominent to stains but scratches will definitely appear on the case over time.
There is a Redmi branding on the top of the case and an LED light indicator that shows if the Airdots 2 are charging. we have the charging port at the back while some specifications are written under the case. Opening the lid is easy but it feels flimsy and the magnets inside the case hold the Buds tightly. The design is so simple and straightforward it sometimes loses identity in my opinion.
Most brands have a special way of branding their products. There is no type of water-resistant ratings on the earbud so it’s best if you leave them out of water. When it comes to the buds themselves they are the in-ear style and this design helps in terms of blocking sounds. The ear tip is round and it goes into you gently the rubber tips make sure it sits well without hurting your ears.
Comfortability Xiaomi Redmi Airdots 2 Review
When it comes to comfort I used them for hours and I wouldn’t feel any pains or strain in my ears. One thing that I don’t like however is the fact that I have to adjust the earbuds most of the time. It is an in-ear style and I have used the Tronsmart Onyx Neo for a very long time because of how it clings to my ears.
The only problem with the Onyx Neo is the touch controls. The Redmi Airdots 2 looks a bit big in the ear but it is lightweight. One quick tip is to make sure you find the right ear tips in the box that way you will find what fits you perfectly.
I find it comfortable but it falls off my ears at times I won’t advise you to exercise with them. it is much more suitable for those that use them at work while sitting.
Sound Isolation Xiaomi Redmi AirDots 2 Review
There is no noise cancellation here but since it’s an in-ear style earbud it cancels out some noise especially when you are listening at very high volume. The level of isolation will vary however because we have various ear sizes so how it will fit is different. With some genres of music, the buds might even block any type of noise which is great.
Battery Life and Latency
When it comes to battery life the carry case has 300mAh while each pair of the bud comes with 43mAh. Charging the case takes about 3 hours from zero to a hundred while charging the buds inside the case takes slightly over one and a half-hour.
If you combine the case and the buds you can get additional 12 hrs of listening time. On a single charge the buds last for 4hrs and by 2021 standards it might look so small.
Most people who will buy this will be fine with the battery life especially for a price below $15. It runs Bluetooth 5.0 and the latency here is quite minimal the bud doesn’t have any chip that improves latency but it does a great job with latency. There might be some stutters but it’s not often there just once in a while.
In this aspect the controls are limited there are certain features that are missing like volume control. You can’t even next to the track while listening below are the controls it comes with:
Tap once to Play or Pause
Tap twice to summon your assistant
Touch controls are limited and it is one of the reasons why the airdots 2 Is not the best in class.
The Redmi Airdots 2 is a good deal for anyone looking for earbuds priced below $15. There is no way you will expect killer features on the pair of earbuds but it handles the basics quite well. The latency is low but the Redmi airdots S is even better in terms of latency because of the gaming mode. In some aspects, if you look at the Redmi airdots 2 you will see that you are getting some value for money.
